IN ROBERTA’S CASE

Explore Parallel Universes, a collection of contemporary photography projects, visual experiments, emotional spaces and independent editorial narratives.

The Roberta Session explores the dialogue between fashion, architecture and visual composition through a series of photographs created inside an abandoned railway station. Rather than documenting a location, the project transforms the space into a minimal stage where gesture, posture and negative space become the true protagonists.
Inspired by contemporary editorial photography while remaining rooted in Simon Joyce's visual language, the series investigates balance, tension and ambiguity. The abandoned environment is never the subject itself, but a silent structure that amplifies the presence of the model and the emotional distance within each frame.
Each photograph seeks simplicity rather than spectacle, allowing light, geometry and expression to construct a visual narrative open to interpretation. THE BATHROOM SESSION

Explore Parallel Universes, a collection of contemporary photography projects, visual experiments, emotional spaces and independent editorial narratives.

The Bathroom Session explores intimacy, vulnerability and emotional presence through quiet photographic compositions suspended between contemporary photography, editorial storytelling and fine art visual research.
Set within private interior spaces, the project investigates the relationship between body, atmosphere, reflections and psychological tension. Bathrooms become temporary emotional environments where silence, imperfection and human presence coexist naturally.
Rather than presenting a linear narrative, the series builds a fragmented visual experience shaped by gestures, textures, light and emotional ambiguity, expanding our photographic universe into a more intimate and parallel dimension.

A photographic series exploring structures — natural, industrial and symbolic — at the moment they begin to collapse.

CONTROLLED DISINTEGRATION

Controlled Disintegration investigates the transformation of everyday structures into symbolic forms.

The series begins with ordinary objects and familiar fragments of the material world. Through minimal compositions, controlled framing and visual manipulation, their original identities gradually disappear. A surface becomes a landscape; a texture suggests a forest; a repeated form evokes an eye, a network or a distant celestial system.

The photographs occupy a space between recognition and abstraction. They remain rooted in something real, yet resist being understood literally. What appears familiar at first begins to shift as the image is isolated from its original context. The object is no longer important for what it is, but for what it can become.

This process of transformation is central to the series. By reducing visual information and concentrating on shape, repetition, texture and structure, the photographs encourage the viewer to construct new associations. Meaning is not imposed by the image; it emerges through perception.

The title Controlled Disintegration refers to this deliberate loss of identity. Disintegration suggests the collapse of an existing structure, while control implies that the process is neither accidental nor entirely destructive. The original form is dismantled, but something else takes its place.

The series therefore explores the fragile boundary between order and collapse, recognition and abstraction. Structures dissolve, familiar references become uncertain, and new meanings emerge from what remains.

Ultimately, Controlled Disintegration is an exploration of how little needs to change for the familiar to become strange — and how easily an ordinary object can become something entirely different when we change the way we look at it.
